Anybody weighing a Jira Product Discovery alternative should start with the word creator, because the price is easy to read and that one word is doing all the work in it.
Everything on their list turns on which of your people is a creator and which is a contributor, because only the first kind is billed.
Everything below was read on Atlassian's own pricing page for the product on 14 September 2026. The plans and the arithmetic for a team of five are worked through separately.
What does Jira Product Discovery cost?
Four plans, and the unit is the creator.
| Plan | Price | Billed per |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Free | up to 3 creators |
| Standard | $10 | per creator |
| Premium | $25 | per creator |
| Enterprise | Custom, billed annually | per creator |
- Free is for 2GB of storage and community support.
- Standard is for an individual team getting started.
- Premium is for visibility and control across several teams.
- Enterprise is for compliance, scale and security.
Annual billing saves up to seventeen percent on their own page, and annual subscriptions are billed at the tier nearest your creator count rather than at an exact headcount.
Their free trial of Standard or Premium is fourteen days, and their page says it asks for no payment details. A monthly subscription can be refunded within the first paid month and an annual one within thirty days of payment.
If that arithmetic came out badly, a trial here is 14 days with a card at signup and the bill after it is $9 or $39 a month.
Who is a creator and who is a contributor?
Their own answer draws the line, and it is worth reading twice before you budget.
A creator is a billable, paid user who actively creates and manages projects, ideas, fields and views. A contributor is a free user who needs an Atlassian account, can contribute to discovery projects, and does not need a creator's permissions. Anybody with product access to Jira or Jira Service Management is a contributor by default.
So the people who add context and opinion are free, and the people who shape the board are paid. That is a defensible split and it is not the same shape as a public feedback board, because a contributor still needs an Atlassian account. Your customers do not have one.
Is it a customer facing board?
No, and that is the honest reason to look at anything else.
Jira Product Discovery is an internal discovery tool. It gathers insights, scores ideas against fields you define, and links them to Jira epics so delivery is visible from the same place.
Their own integration list is Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence and Goals, which is the shape of a product built for the inside of a company.
What it does not do is give the people who pay you a page they can post on without an account. If that is your problem, the account requirement is the whole answer and no price comparison follows it.
What is Jira Product Discovery?
An idea management tool that lives inside Jira, for product teams who already work there.
You collect insights from wherever your team hears things, turn them into ideas, score those ideas against fields you define yourself, and link the ones you pick to Jira epics so that delivery shows up beside the idea that caused it.
Their own integration list is Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence and Goals, which is the shape of a tool built to sit inside one company's workflow rather than in front of its customers.
It is sold per creator, it runs only on Atlassian's cloud, and it is a different category of thing from a public feedback board even though both end in a prioritised list.
Does Jira Product Discovery weight votes by revenue?
Nothing on the pages we read on 14 September 2026 mentions weighting a vote by what the voter pays.
The product does carry custom fields and scoring against them, so a team that keeps a revenue figure on an idea can sort by it. That is a field somebody types into and a sort somebody applies, rather than a weight written onto a vote when it is cast.
Does Jira Product Discovery have a free plan?
Yes, and it does not expire. Their pricing page read on 14 September 2026 gives three creators and two gigabytes of storage at no cost, with contributors free on every plan. Three creators is the ceiling, and a fourth is where the ten dollar rate starts.
Does Jira Product Discovery have a public roadmap and single sign on?
Jira Product Discovery publishes roadmaps and embeds them in Confluence. Single sign on is not published on the Jira Product Discovery pricing page read on 14 September 2026, which is where Atlassian's identity products are sold separately.
Ours publishes a public roadmap with a Denied column on every plan, and signs a voter in with a token from your own application on the thirty nine dollar plan rather than with SAML.
Is there a free Jira Product Discovery alternative?
Yes, several, and none of them is Jira Product Discovery. Jira Product Discovery is free forever for three creators, and Productboard's free plan carries five hundred feedback notes with one teamspace and one portal.
Both were read on their own pricing pages on 14 September 2026. This product is not one of them. There is no free plan here, only a fourteen day trial that asks for a card at signup.
Is Jira Product Discovery worth it, and when is it the better answer?
You already run Jira. Ideas link to epics, delivery progress shows up beside the idea, and Confluence embeds the roadmap. Nothing here matches that and nothing here tries to.
Your discovery happens inside the company. Sales notes, support tickets and research go in as insights. That is what the product is for.
Three people do the shaping. Free forever for three creators is a real plan, not a trial.
When is ours?
Your customers should be able to post and vote without an account. Ours is a public board and theirs is not.
You want the vote itself to carry the money. Each voter sits in a tier with a whole number multiplier, the weight is written onto the vote when it is cast, and the plain count stays beside the weighted total. The mechanism is here.
You want one price rather than a headcount. Nine dollars for one project, thirty nine for unlimited projects and a team, and neither number moves when more people vote.
What does ours cost?
Nine dollars a month for one project, thirty nine for unlimited projects, a team, the API and a custom domain.
Against Standard, five creators is fifty dollars a month and our thirty nine covers a team with no count on it. Against Free, three creators is nothing and we cost nine, so for a team of three doing internal discovery inside Jira they are cheaper and better suited.
These are not the same product and the page would rather say so than win a comparison it has no business winning. The whole field's prices and units are on one page.
