Beamer's bill grows with how many people open your product, whether or not any of them ever votes. Frill's bill grows with how many ideas pile up on your board, whatever size your team or your audience is. Everything below was read on each vendor's own pricing page on 15 September 2026.
What does each one charge?
Forty nine dollars a month, and twenty two dollars a month, and the two figures do not buy the same product.
| Vendor | From | Billed per | Free plan | Trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VoteFirst | $7.50/mo | plan | – | 14 days, card |
| Frill | $22/mo | workspace | – | 14 days |
| Beamer | $49/mo | monthly active user | 1,000 MAU | – |
Read on each vendor's own pricing page on 2026-09-15.
Beamer's forty nine dollars, billed yearly at fifty nine monthly, buys the Starter changelog plan and its five thousand monthly active user allowance. It does not buy a feedback board.
Beamer sells feedback as a separate add on sitting on top of whichever changelog plan you hold, and that add on has its own free tier and its own paid one at ninety nine dollars a month billed yearly, a hundred and nineteen monthly.
Frill's twenty two dollars already is the feedback board. Startup is capped at fifty active ideas, and single sign on, the developer API, webhooks, a custom domain and a Canny importer are all ticked on that same cheapest plan, per Frill's own comparison table.
How much does Beamer cost compared to Frill?
It depends on your audience size and your backlog size, because those are the two things each vendor actually meters.
| Your situation | Beamer | Frill |
|---|---|---|
| 2 people, 800 monthly active users, 15 open ideas | Changelog Free plus Feedback Free, $0/mo | Startup, $22/mo |
| 6 people, 8,000 monthly active users, 70 open ideas | Changelog Pro at $99/mo, plus Feedback Free, $99/mo | Business, $44/mo |
| 20 people, 45,000 monthly active users, 20 open ideas | Changelog Scale at $249/mo, plus Feedback Free, $249/mo | Startup, $22/mo |
Frill's price does not move with team size or audience size at all. It moves once, when the board crosses fifty active ideas and you need Business. Beamer's price moves with your product's own traffic, whatever your board is doing.
Beamer does not publish a rate for the Custom tier above fifty thousand monthly active users. Their page reads by contact past that point, with no printed figure.
Which one should you choose?
They meter opposite things, and the honest answer depends on which wall your company hits first.
Frill gives every paid tier unlimited teammates and unlimited tracked users, which is rare in this category and worth taking seriously. A company with a large team and a busy, well voted board pays Frill the same twenty two or forty four dollars either way.
Beamer's free feedback tier is a genuinely working public board, not a demo. Public ideas, comments, a portal and a roadmap, with unlimited votes, at no cost, for as long as your product stays under a thousand monthly active users.
One project is nine dollars a month. Unlimited projects is thirty nine.
Why choose Beamer over Frill, or Frill over Beamer?
Because one of them charges for your audience and the other charges for your backlog.
Choose Beamer when your product has a small, contained audience and you also want a changelog widget broadcasting releases to everybody who opens it. The feedback board rides along on the free tier until you need private ideas or the API.
Choose Frill when your product already has a lot of people using it, because none of that traffic appears anywhere on Frill's bill. What you have to watch instead is your own backlog crossing fifty open ideas.
Is there a cheaper alternative to both?
Several, and which one is cheaper depends on whether your risk is audience size or backlog size.
Against Beamer's monthly active user meter, a flat monthly rate stops growing with your own product's traffic, and the calculator works that out at a size you choose.
The full field, with the unit each vendor bills on, is one page, and this product's own plan is nine dollars a month flat, with no meter of any kind.
What does each do with a vote from a big customer?
Read on each vendor's own pages on the date in the row above. Not published means nobody could read it on the pages opened that day, never that the capability is absent.
| Vendor | Weighting by revenue | Single sign on | API |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beamer | – | Yes | Feedback Pro |
| Frill | Weights votes by customer revenue, in their own words | Every paid tier | Every paid tier |
| VoteFirst | All plans | Pro, no SAML | Pro |
A dash means nobody could read it on the pages opened that day, never that the capability is absent.
Frill's own pages state plainly that it weights votes by customer revenue. That is not a claim only this product makes. Eight of the thirty two feedback tools we read describe some form of revenue weighting in their own words, and Frill is one of the eight.
Beamer's pages, read on their own dates, do not mention vote weight, MRR or customer tier at all, which is an absence on their marketing pages rather than proof about their software.
Can I move from one to the other?
Frill's own comparison table lists bulk CSV import as well as export on every paid tier, which is the pair you want when you are moving data in either direction.
Beamer's pages we read do not state an export capability for the feedback board one way or the other. What usually does not survive a move regardless of the two tools involved is who cast each vote, the comment threads, the original timestamps and the board URLs people have already shared.
Where we fit, and where we do not
Both of the products above give every paid tier unlimited team members, Beamer through its unlimited teammates on any paid changelog plan and Frill through unlimited admins on any paid tier. We charge for team members, and they only arrive on the thirty nine dollar plan.
Both also sell a route to a private, invite only board. Beamer's Feedback Pro adds private ideas, comments, portal and roadmap. Frill's privacy add on and its Growth plan pre approve ideas and users and keep a board private. We have no private board at any price.
A board here is published to everybody or to nobody.
Both sell a survey or NPS product on top of the board, Beamer as a separate ninety nine dollar add on and Frill with five survey types laddered by plan. We have no survey feature and none planned.
What is Beamer, and what is Frill?
Beamer is a changelog and in app announcement widget, with a feedback board and an NPS tool sold beside it as separate add ons, billed by the monthly active users who see the widget.
Frill is a feedback board, a roadmap and a changelog sold together as one product, billed per workspace with a cap on active ideas at its cheapest tier.
Does either one have a free plan?
Beamer does. Its changelog plan reads free at a thousand monthly active users and one teammate, and its feedback add on has its own separate free tier of public ideas, comments, a portal and a roadmap with unlimited votes.
Frill does not, not any more. Their pricing page read on 14 September 2026 carries a fourteen day trial that asks for no card, with no free tier under it.
What this costs
Lite
$9 /mo
Pro
$39 /mo
Lifetime
$999 once
Fourteen day trial of Pro, card asked for at signup. Nothing here counts the people who vote, so the bill does not move when the board starts working. The long version, with what happens if you stop paying.
The honest summary
Two meters that measure nothing alike. Beamer's bill tracks how many people open your product, so a quiet board inside a busy product still costs money. Frill's bill tracks how many ideas your board is holding, so a busy board inside a quiet product is the thing that pushes the price up.

14 days, a card at signup, then $9 or $39 a month.
