What does each one charge?

On the yearly toggle, Feature Upvote asks forty nine dollars for the Indie tier and ninety nine for Standard, each per board. Switch to monthly billing and the same two rows read fifty nine and a hundred and nineteen. Whichever tier you land on, the feature list underneath it does not change.
Fider's own answer to how much it costs names a fair use limit of two hundred and fifty feedback items on the free hosted tier, twenty five dollars a month hosted past that, or nothing at all if you run the software on your own server.
How much does Feature Upvote cost compared to Fider?
The gap turns on two different things entirely, how many boards you run and how much your one board has ever collected.

The middle row is the one to sit with. Feature Upvote's meter never notices how much gets posted, so a board that has grown busy pays exactly what a quiet one paid on day one.
Fider's meter never notices how many people vote or how many boards you keep, provided you keep them on your own machine. A hosted account still pays per workspace once the item count runs out.

Which one should you choose?
They are built for different owners and the honest answer names something real about both.
Fider's self hosted tier is not a stripped preview of the paid product, it is the whole thing.
Their own code sets the same flag that unlocks paid features to true the moment you are not running the multi host build, so a person willing to operate a server pays nothing, ever, for a feature list a paying customer also gets.
Feature Upvote's price never punishes a board that starts working. A tool billed by the person who shows up gets expensive exactly when it is doing its job. Feature Upvote does not do that, and neither does Fider once the server is yours.
Nine dollars a month for one project, with weighted voting on it.
Why choose Feature Upvote over Fider, or Fider over Feature Upvote?
Because one of them asks for a card and a flat sum, and the other asks for either a small monthly charge or an afternoon spent on infrastructure.
Choose Feature Upvote when you want a board live in minutes with no server of your own, and when your identity provider has to be in the sign in path from day one, because SAML sits on the entry plan rather than three tiers up.
Choose Fider when you already run Docker and Postgres for something else, when the item count on your board is genuinely small, or when a policy at your company says the data has to sit on a machine you control.
Is there a cheaper alternative to both?
Fider self hosted already settles that question for itself, since nothing beats a licence that costs nothing.

What does each do with a vote from a big customer?
Neither publishes an answer, and we checked both rather than assumed it.
Read on each vendor's own pages on the dates above. A dash means nobody could read it on the pages opened that day, never that the capability is absent.
Feature Upvote's help centre returns nothing for a search on vote weight, and no page of theirs mentions revenue or customer tiers. Fider states plainly that every signed in voter counts as one, because one person one vote is what the product is for.
On a board where a handful of large accounts vote alongside a much larger free crowd, neither tool can show you which group actually spoke, since the count treats them the same.
Can I move from one to the other?
Fider is a database you already own if you self host it, so leaving that path can mean a direct copy rather than a file export.
A hosted Fider account and a Feature Upvote board both leave you with the request text, the statuses and a vote total, and both drop the same things on the way out. Who cast each vote, the comment threads, the original timestamps and any board link somebody bookmarked years ago.
Feature Upvote's own pages read on the day do not name an export format at all, so a person leaving that product should ask support directly rather than expect a button.
Where we fit, and where we do not
Feature Upvote carries SAML 2.0 single sign on and a private board on its forty nine dollar entry plan, along with unlimited contributors and team members with no seat cap. We have none of that at any price, and there is no private board here at all.
Fider gives you the option this whole page is about, running the software yourself with every feature turned on for the cost of a server rather than a subscription. We are hosted only, and there is no way to take this product and run it on a machine you own.
What we do that neither of them publishes is put a whole number multiplier on a customer's tier and write that weight onto the vote the moment it is cast, on every plan starting at nine dollars, with the plain count still shown beside the weighted one.
What is Feature Upvote, and what is Fider?
Feature Upvote is a single public feedback board, priced per board, with an identical feature list on both of its published tiers so the fifty dollar step buys faster support rather than more capability.
A note taken on 10 September 2026, while their site was still readable to us, records a public REST API opened to every customer that July, so older write ups saying it has none are stale. Their site now refuses our browser, so that is the most recent reading we have.
Fider is an open source feedback board licensed under the AGPL. Run it on your own machine with everything unlocked, or use the hosted version the project runs, which is free under a stated fair use policy and twenty five dollars a month past it.
Does either one have a free plan?
Feature Upvote does not. Its pricing page read on 14 September 2026 offers a thirty day trial with no card required, tied for the longest we found in the table rather than standing alone at the top, and nothing free once it ends.
Fider does, and it is genuinely open ended if you self host. Hosted, the free tier ends at two hundred fifty feedback items rather than at any number of people who voted on them.

The honest summary

A busy board with heavy traffic and a small number of requests costs the same forty nine dollars on Feature Upvote and stays free on Fider for a long time. A board that posts constantly crosses Fider's line while Feature Upvote's price has not noticed at all.
