Jira Product Discovery and Aha both sell an ideas portal billed by the person, and that is where the resemblance ends. Jira Product Discovery only bills the person who builds a view.
Aha bills anybody with a login, including a colleague who does nothing but look and vote. Everything below was read on each vendor's own pricing page on 14 September 2026.
What does each one charge?
Free for three creators, then ten dollars a creator a month on Jira Product Discovery. Thirty nine dollars a user a month on Aha Ideas, with a minimum order of three seats printed under the price.
| Vendor | From | Billed per | Free plan | Trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VoteFirst | $7.50/mo | plan | – | 14 days, card |
| Jira Product Discovery | $10/creator/mo | creator | 3 creators | – |
| Aha! Ideas | $39/user/mo | user | – | Yes |

Jira Product Discovery's own definition of a creator is a paid person who builds and edits ideas and views. A contributor, which is anybody else with an Atlassian login, is free on every plan including the free one.
Aha's own definition of a paid seat is wider. A contributor needs one, a reviewer who can see ideas and vote needs one, and a viewer who can only look and vote also needs one. Nobody on an Aha Ideas plan is free except the customers reading the public portal.
How much does Jira Product Discovery cost compared to Aha?
It depends on how many of your people only need to watch, because that is the one thing the two vendors count in opposite ways.
| Your situation | Jira Product Discovery | Aha Ideas |
|---|---|---|
| 4 people, 2 build views, 2 only watch | Free, under the 3 creator line | $156/mo, all 4 need a paid seat |
| 9 people, 4 build views, 5 only watch | $40/mo, 4 creators on Standard | $351/mo, all 9 need a paid seat |
| 20 people, 6 build views, 14 only watch | $60/mo, 6 creators on Standard | $780/mo, all 20 need a paid seat |
The gap widens as the team grows, because Jira Product Discovery's bill tracks the editors and Aha's tracks the logins, and a company almost always grows its watchers faster than its editors.
Aha's own three seat floor is printed on the same card as the price, which is more honest than several vendors in this category manage. Jira Product Discovery prints no floor at all, because three creators cost nothing.
Which one should you choose?
They are built for different sized decisions, and the honest answer names both.
Aha is the far more complete product, and it is not close. Ideas is one of eight products in the suite, and buying Aha Roadmaps brings in strategy, release planning and an AI assistant, none of which Jira Product Discovery offers at any price.
Jira Product Discovery is the better fit if your company already lives inside Jira. An idea links straight to the epic that delivers it, with no integration to configure, and the roadmap embeds in Confluence for anybody who already reads Confluence.
Choose Aha when several people need real editing rights across a strategy layer, not just a list of ideas. Choose Jira Product Discovery when the job is smaller than that and your delivery tickets already live in Jira.
Why choose Jira Product Discovery over Aha, or Aha over Jira Product Discovery?
Because one of them counts your team once and the other counts it on every login.
Choose Jira Product Discovery when most of your company only needs to read the board and vote, because those people cost nothing and the bill stays small as the audience grows.
Choose Aha when the roadmap work itself, not just the reading of it, is spread across several people, because the suite behind Ideas is built for that and a smaller tool will run out of room.
The price in the table above follows from that choice. It is not the reason to make it.
The demo board is open and it asks for no account.
Is there a cheaper alternative to both?
If the problem is paying per login at all, yes.
Our nine dollar plan does not count creators, contributors, reviewers or viewers. It is one project and the price does not move whether one person reads the board or a hundred do.
The whole field, with the unit each vendor bills on, is one page, and the calculator works the arithmetic at a size you choose for the vendors in this category that meter customers rather than colleagues.
What does each do with a vote from a big customer?
Neither page we read describes writing a weight onto the vote itself when it is cast.
Read on each vendor's own pages on the date in the row above. A dash means nobody could read it on the pages opened that day, never that the capability is absent.
| Vendor | Weighting by revenue | API | Export | Custom domain |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jira Product Discovery | – | – | – | – |
| Aha | Prioritizes by potential revenue | Yes | Yes | – |
| VoteFirst | All plans | Pro | CSV | Pro |
Aha's own pages describe prioritizing ideas by potential revenue, which orders a list a person built rather than multiplying the vote itself.
Jira Product Discovery's custom fields let a team keep a revenue figure on an idea and sort by it, but neither vendor's pages we read state that the sort happens automatically at the moment a vote is cast.
Can I move from one to the other?
Partly, and neither vendor's own pages say enough to promise a clean one.
Aha's pages mark an export as available without stating what it contains. Jira Product Discovery's pages we read do not state whether a creator can export ideas at all. That single line is worth confirming in writing before moving away from either one.
Who cast each vote, the comment threads underneath a request, and every portal link anybody has shared are the kind of thing an export usually loses, whichever two tools sit on either end of the move.
Where we fit, and where we do not
We are not a strategy tool and we are not built into a larger issue tracker. There is no epic link, no release plan, and no place to score an idea against a field your team invented.
Both of the products above do that. Jira Product Discovery scores ideas against custom fields you define and links the ones you keep straight to a Jira epic. Aha's Essentials plan carries the same scoring and prioritization, feeding a wider suite that turns a scored idea into a release plan.
Both are also one product inside something bigger you would grow into. Jira Product Discovery sits in the Atlassian estate, next to Jira and Confluence. Aha sells eight products, of which Ideas is one, with an AI assistant across the suite.
We have neither the scoring framework nor the suite around it. What we do instead is put a multiplier on a tier and write that weight onto the vote the moment it is cast, on every plan including the nine dollar one.
Eight of the thirty two vendors we track describe something revenue related in their own words. Aha is one of them, and its own wording orders a list rather than weighting a vote, so it is a difference of degree from what this product does rather than the same thing under another name.
What is Jira Product Discovery, and what is Aha?
Jira Product Discovery is an idea management tool that lives inside Jira. A team collects insights, scores them against fields it defines, and links the ideas it keeps to Jira epics so delivery shows up beside the idea that caused it. It is billed per creator.
Aha is a suite of eight products, of which Ideas is the customer facing portal. It ships scoring, prioritization, an AI assistant and integrations with tools like Salesforce and Zendesk on its own plans, and every internal role that can even look at it needs a paid seat.
Does either one have a free plan?
Jira Product Discovery does and Aha does not. Jira Product Discovery's pricing page read on 14 September 2026 gives three creators, unlimited contributors and two gigabytes of storage, free forever rather than a trial.
Aha Ideas carries a free trial that its own page says asks for no card, and no free tier under it. The cheapest thing you can keep is a seat, and the minimum order is three.

The honest summary
Jira Product Discovery counts the person who edits and lets everyone else in for nothing. Aha counts everyone with a login and will not sell you fewer than three of them. The gap between the two grows fastest at exactly the companies with the most people who only want to watch.
Jira Product Discovery for a small team already inside Atlassian. Aha for a company that wants the strategy suite around the ideas list. Ours if the price should not move with either the team or the audience, at nine dollars flat.
