Autodesk ideas: 72,744 feature requests and what got built

Autodesk takes feature requests on idea boards in its community forum, one board per product, from Revit and Inventor to Civil 3D, Vault and 3ds Max. Each idea collects votes and carries a status set by the product team. Every idea on 46 of those boards was read on 4 October 2026, 83,020 in all, with status, votes, replies, views and dates. The figures below cover the 72,744 ideas on 43 boards whose statuses could be read cleanly.

5.4 percent are marked Implemented, and 78.1 percent still carry Gathering Support, the status every idea starts with. The median idea at that status was filed 2,284 days before the read, more than six years.

Download the file, one row per idea, compressed with gzip. It is free to copy, quote and use commercially. To cite it, link https://votefirst.app/en/data/autodesk-feature-requests and give the read date, 4 October 2026. Each row names the idea's number, which ends its address on the forum: the first row above is idea 6426997. The kudos column holds the votes.

How do you submit a feature request to Autodesk?

Post it on the idea board for the product, in the Autodesk Community. Autodesk's guide to the idea boards, published in April 2025, asks for four things. Search first, and if a similar idea exists, vote for it and comment, so that one idea gathers the votes instead of many. Put one idea in each submission. Describe the problem as well as the fix: what the product does now, what it should do, and what that would let you do. And expect to wait, because some ideas take longer to fit the product's direction.

The guide calls votes one factor among several, and says product teams read the comments to understand the problem behind an idea. Fusion's old IdeaStation board is archived, and its description sends Fusion users to a separate feedback hub.

What do the statuses on Autodesk's idea boards mean?

Status What Autodesk says it means Ideas
Gathering Support The starting status, open for votes and comments while product managers review it 56,784
Under Review The product team is looking into the technical scope before the backlog 2,353
Future Consideration Popular, but the timing is not right for the backlog yet 2,122
Accepted In the development backlog, which is not a promise to build it 934
Implemented Live in an Autodesk product or service 3,904
Archived Not being considered for now, for low strategic fit or limited feasibility 6,562

85 more carry a status used on only a few boards, such as New or Comments Requested. The definitions are paraphrased from the 2025 guide.

A status is what the board shows on the read date. The board does not record when it was set, and a status can lag the product it describes.

How many Autodesk ideas get implemented?

3,904 of 72,744, or 5.4 percent. The share is highest for the oldest ideas, which have had the most time, and archiving fell hardest on them too.

Filed Ideas Implemented Under Review, Future Consideration or Accepted Archived Gathering Support
2012 to 2014 4,435 16.8% 11.8% 39.6% 31.5%
2015 to 2017 20,343 7.8% 11.9% 18.9% 61.4%
2018 to 2020 19,179 4.5% 4.8% 3.3% 87.4%
2021 to 2023 12,907 3.5% 7.4% 1.5% 87.5%
2024 to 2026 15,880 1.7% 3.7% 0.8% 93.5%

The boards differ a good deal.

Board Ideas Implemented Under Review, Future Consideration or Accepted Archived Gathering Support
Revit Ideas 14,874 3.6% 1.2% 12.9% 82.2%
Inventor Ideas 14,358 6.7% 3.4% 16.9% 73.1%
BIM 360 Ideas 7,853 4.8% 10.8% 0.1% 84.3%
Forma for Construction Ideas 7,095 1.7% 2.4% 0.1% 95.9%
Civil 3D Ideas 5,005 2.8% 20.6% 1.7% 74.9%
Vault Ideas 3,256 15.0% 8.4% 23.2% 53.3%
3ds Max Ideas 2,562 3.0% 22.5% 12.3% 62.3%
Maya Ideas 1,740 4.5% 4.3% 6.3% 84.9%

Forma for Construction Ideas is the youngest of the large boards: 6,325 of its 7,095 ideas were filed in 2025 or 2026, and 198 of the 7,095 came from accounts ranked as Autodesk staff.

Do votes get an Autodesk idea implemented?

They help, slowly. The share implemented rises from 3.1 percent of ideas with no votes to 26.1 percent of those with a hundred to 499, and 38.3 percent past five hundred.

Votes Ideas Implemented Under Review, Future Consideration or Accepted Archived Gathering Support
None 14,150 3.1% 3.7% 13.1% 79.9%
1 to 4 27,808 3.6% 5.2% 10.8% 80.2%
5 to 9 12,755 4.8% 7.7% 9.8% 77.7%
10 to 49 15,152 8.2% 11.7% 2.7% 77.3%
50 to 99 1,774 18.0% 22.9% 1.4% 57.6%
100 to 499 1,024 26.1% 26.6% 0.4% 47.0%
500 or more 81 38.3% 12.3% 0.0% 49.4%

Even at the top, about half are still Gathering Support. 521 ideas with a hundred votes or more carry the starting status, and 40 of them have more than five hundred.

Most ideas never get near those numbers. The median idea has three votes, 19.5 percent have none, and 24.8 percent have ten or more. The median idea has one reply and 603 views, and 43.3 percent have no reply at all.

Votes are not the only way in. 2,049 of the 3,904 implemented ideas, 52.5 percent, had fewer than ten votes, and 441 had none.

Why do Autodesk ideas get archived?

Mostly for age and a lack of votes. In September 2016, a Civil 3D product manager explained on the board that ideas were being archived by date and vote count, starting with the oldest that had one vote or none, and that archiving was not a rejection. In 2017 and 2018, the Inventor board archived ideas with a standard note: the idea had been on the board for more than a year without many votes, and could be posted again.

The data matches. The median archived idea has two votes, 74.2 percent have fewer than five, and only four have a hundred or more. 5,399 of the 6,562 archived ideas were filed between 2013 and 2017, and only 405 filed since 2020 have been archived. The ideas left unarchived stayed at Gathering Support, and 59.1 percent of the 56,784 there are more than five years old.

A Revit moderator, answering a request to clean up the board in December 2022, wrote that duplicate ideas were being combined and that archiving ideas with no traction in many years was being considered. That request, Clean up the Revit Ideas forum, has 776 votes and is marked Accepted.

How long do Accepted ideas wait?

Accepted means the backlog, and many have been there for years. The 934 Accepted ideas were filed a median 3,233 days before the read, almost nine years, and 647 of them before 2020. Future Consideration is older still: a median 3,494 days, with 1,897 of its 2,122 ideas filed more than five years ago. Of the 2,353 Under Review, 1,338 are more than five years old.

An idea on the Civil 3D board asks for Autodesk to acknowledge and respond to ideas. It was filed in September 2018, has 129 votes, and is marked Accepted.

Six of the ten still carry the starting status, two are Accepted and two are Implemented. Nine come from the Revit board, where 474 ideas have passed a hundred votes and 99 of those are marked Implemented. Revit for Mac has 1,107 replies and 372,143 views.

How does Autodesk compare with other public trackers?

Its share implemented sits with the other large public idea boards. Mozilla Connect has delivered 2.4 percent of its Firefox ideas and Spotify's Idea Exchange 4.7 percent, against Autodesk's 5.4 percent. Developer trackers build far more: JetBrains 32.2 percent of its feature requests and GitLab 37.8 percent of its feature issues.

The top of the vote range looks alike across the idea boards. On Mozilla Connect, 25.6 percent of ideas past a hundred kudos were delivered. On Autodesk's boards, 26.1 percent of ideas with a hundred to 499 votes were implemented.

What does that mean for your own feature request board?

A board where four ideas in five still carry the status they were posted with, most of them for years, tells the people who posted them very little. On VoteFirst, Denied and Completed are columns on the board by default, so a request that will not be built can say so. Voting is anonymous by default, and when a release includes a request, every voter who was signed in when they voted is emailed that release.

How was this read, and when does it change?

The Khoros search API that runs the Autodesk Community answers without a sign in. On 4 October 2026 it listed every topic on 46 idea boards, 83,020 in all. Five boards for website issues, bug reports, tests and a user group were left out. Votes, replies and views are as of the read date, and each idea's status is the name shown on its board that day.

The status figures leave out three boards. The archived Fusion 360 IdeaStation, 9,755 ideas, returns Japanese status names on 2,369 of its ideas, so its statuses could not be read as the other boards' are. The two read only Japanese boards for Fusion and Revit, 521 ideas, were left out with it. All three are in the public file. An idea hidden from the community, if there is any, could not be read and is not counted.

The public file holds one row per idea with no titles or authors. The next read is due by 1 January 2027.
