Spotify takes feature requests on the Idea Exchange of its community forum, where each idea collects votes, called kudos, and carries a status set by Spotify's community team. Every idea on its three idea boards was read on 4 October 2026, 7,786 in all, filed from 9 February 2012 until the forum went read only, with status, kudos, replies, views and dates.
364 of them, 4.7 percent, are marked Implemented. Kudos make a large difference: 0.1 percent of ideas with no kudos were implemented, against 49.8 percent of those past a thousand.

Download the file, one row per idea, compressed with gzip, with the ideas from Mozilla Connect in the same file. It is free to copy, quote and use commercially. To cite it, link https://votefirst.app/en/data/spotify-feature-requests and give the read date, 4 October 2026. Each Spotify row names the idea's number, which ends its address on the community: the first row above is idea 703799.
How do you submit a feature request to Spotify?
Not while the forum is moving. In July 2026 Spotify announced that its community would move to a new platform later in the year, and since 18 September 2026 the whole forum has been read only, so no idea can be posted or voted on. Spotify said that posts, replies and discussion history will move with it.
When it reopens, the Idea Exchange guidelines set the rules. Search first, and if the idea is already there, vote for it or comment on it, since Spotify merges similar ideas into one. Post one change per idea, in English, describing what the app does now, what should change, and which part of the app or which platform it affects. Requests about prices, subscriptions or the music and podcasts on offer are out of scope, and so are requests for Spotify in a new country or for rolling back an update entirely.
A second article explains what happens next. A new idea appears as a Live Idea, a moderator or a Community Star checks it against the guidelines, and one that breaks them moves to Closed Ideas, marked Closed - Doesn't Meet Requirements.
What do the statuses on Spotify's Idea Exchange mean?
| Status | What Spotify says it means | Ideas |
|---|---|---|
| Live Idea | Open for voting and comments | 5,681 |
| No status | On a board with no status set | 561 |
| Good idea, vote for it | Not defined in the guidelines | 13 |
| Under Consideration | Coming, with a rough timeline for release | 6 |
| Implemented | Rolled out | 364 |
| Not Right Now | Discussed inside Spotify and not on its timeline for now | 107 |
| Closed - Doesn't Meet Requirements | Breaks the Idea Exchange guidelines | 1,031 |
| Closed | Not defined in the guidelines | 22 |
| Not Implementable | Not defined in the guidelines | 1 |
The definitions come from the article on how feedback reaches Spotify. Not Right Now is the nearest thing to a no, and the article adds that it does not mean never. Spotify has marked about three ideas implemented for every one it has put on Not Right Now. The 22 marked Closed include a discount for the armed forces, with 3,884 kudos, a pricing request of the kind the guidelines rule out.
How many Spotify ideas get implemented?
364 of 7,786, or 4.7 percent, and most of them were filed years ago.
| Filed in | Ideas on the board | Implemented |
|---|---|---|
| 2012 to 2017 | 292 | 196 (67.1%) |
| 2018 to 2022 | 352 | 135 (38.4%) |
| 2023 | 732 | 12 (1.6%) |
| 2024 and 2025 | 215 | 17 (7.9%) |
| 2026 | 6,195 | 4 (0.1%) |
The early years are thin. 644 ideas on the board were filed before 2023, and 95.2 percent of them have ten kudos or more. 6,195 were filed in 2026 before the forum went read only, with a median of no kudos at all. The older ideas still on the board are mostly ones that drew support, so their high share implemented describes those ideas and not every idea posted in those years. A share by kudos is the fairer reading.
Do kudos get a Spotify idea implemented?
They do, and the share climbs steeply past a hundred.
| Kudos | Ideas | Implemented | Not Right Now | Still open | Closed for breaking the rules |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| None | 3,983 | 0.1% | 0.0% | 76.4% | 23.5% |
| 1 to 9 | 2,472 | 0.4% | 0.0% | 95.6% | 3.8% |
| 10 to 99 | 539 | 5.0% | 0.0% | 93.7% | 0.2% |
| 100 to 999 | 547 | 37.3% | 7.7% | 52.8% | 0.2% |
| 1,000 or more | 245 | 49.8% | 26.5% | 17.1% | 0.0% |
Still open means Live Idea or no status. The rest carry Under Consideration, Good idea, vote for it, Closed or Not Implementable. Of the 245 ideas past a thousand kudos, 203, or 82.9 percent, have a status from Spotify beyond Live Idea.
Most ideas never get near those numbers. The median idea has no kudos, 51.2 percent have none and 17.1 percent have ten or more. The median idea has no replies, 51.6 percent have none, and the median idea has been viewed 127 times.
Votes are not the whole story. The same article lists what else Spotify weighs: what helps artists, its own data, research testing, focus groups and surveys, feedback from other support channels, and its business strategy. When Spotify builds something that did not start on the community, it says it will announce it on a matching idea, even one short of votes. 38 implemented ideas have fewer than a hundred kudos, and 11 have fewer than ten.
How long can an idea wait on Not Right Now?
Years. The 107 ideas marked Not Right Now have a median of 1,197 kudos and were filed a median 3,363 days before the read, more than nine years. 45 of them were filed in 2016 or earlier. The most voted, a list of everyone who follows a playlist, was filed in February 2013 and has 27,116 kudos and 1,980 replies.
Under Consideration, which the guidelines describe as a feature on its way with a rough timeline, is rarer still. Six ideas carry it. One of them, two factor authentication for Spotify accounts, was filed on 24 January 2015, has 9,356 kudos, and was still Under Consideration on the read date, more than eleven years later.
How busy was the Idea Exchange in 2026?
6,195 ideas were filed from January to 18 September 2026, an average of 711 a month from January to August. The median one has no kudos, 61.2 percent have none and 64.4 percent have no reply. 330 reached ten kudos. Moderators closed 1,030 of them, 16.6 percent, for breaking the guidelines, and four have been implemented.

| An explicit content filter | 13,311 | 2012 | Implemented |
| A higher limit on saved songs | 12,962 | 2014 | Implemented |

How does Spotify compare with other public trackers?
Its most voted ideas are marked built more often than Mozilla's. On Mozilla Connect, 25.6 percent of ideas past a hundred kudos were delivered. On Spotify's Idea Exchange, 326 of the 792 ideas past a hundred kudos, 41.2 percent, are implemented, and another 107 are Not Right Now. The two boards are not read on the same terms. Spotify's has run ten years longer, and its older years hold mostly ideas that drew support.
Both take ideas from the general public, and both leave most of them with few votes, as do Autodesk's idea boards, where the median idea has three votes and 5.4 percent are implemented, and Discord's feedback board, where the median post scores one and 0.2 percent are marked Completed. The median idea has three kudos on Mozilla Connect and none on Spotify's board. On developer trackers, where people file about tools they work in, the shares built are higher: JetBrains built 32.2 percent of its feature requests and GitLab 23.3 percent of those from paying customers.
What does that mean for your own feature request board?
A board that takes 711 ideas a month can answer the ones near the top and leave the rest waiting, and on Spotify's two in three of this year's ideas have no reply. On VoteFirst, Denied and Completed are columns on the board by default, so a request that will not be built can say so. Voting is anonymous by default, and when a release includes a request, every voter who was signed in when they voted is emailed that release.
How was this read, and when does it change?
The Khoros search API that runs Spotify's community answers without a sign in. On 4 October 2026 it listed every topic on the Live Ideas, Closed Ideas and Implemented Ideas boards, 7,786 in all. Kudos, replies and views are as of the read date, which fell while the forum was read only, so nothing on the boards could change during the read. Each idea's status is the one shown on the board that day. An idea hidden from the community, if there is any, could not be read and is not counted.
The public file holds one row per idea with no titles or authors, and also carries the 10,378 ideas read the same day from Mozilla Connect.
The next read is due after the community reopens on its new platform, and by 1 January 2027 at the latest.
