ClearFlask is free to self host, with paid plans from $9 a month, read on its own pricing page on 21 October 2026. VoteFirst, whose maker wrote this page, starts at $9 a month for one project, so weigh what follows with that in mind.
ClearFlask is an open source feature voting and roadmap tool from Smotana, published under the Apache 2.0 license. Anyone can run it for free on their own server, capped at 100 posts and community support. Past that cap, a self host license is $9 a month and removes the limit on the same server you run. Cloud, where ClearFlask hosts it, is $29 a month with no cap and a 14 day trial. Every current plan carries unlimited teammates.
Every current figure here was read on clearflask.com/pricing on 4 October 2026, as the page loads, and every older one on the Internet Archive's copies of the same page.
What does ClearFlask cost?
| Open source | Self host license | Cloud | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price a month | $0 | $9 | $29 |
| Who hosts it | You | You | ClearFlask |
| Posts | 100 max | No limit | No limit |
| Teammates | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Support | Community | Priority | Priority |
| Billing | Free forever | Automatic renewal | 14 day trial |
The feature table below the cards marks roadmap, a credit system, content customization, custom domain, private projects, single sign on, a site template, GitHub and Intercom integrations, tracking integrations, an API and whitelabel with check icons rather than text, so which plan carries each one cannot be read as text. The cards themselves say the self host license and Cloud both carry "All features", where the free open source card names only its post cap and community support.
What does ClearFlask cost past 100 posts?
| Posts a project needs | Plan that fits | Price a month | Who hosts it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 100 | Open source | $0 | You |
| Over 100, on your own server | Self host license | $9 | You |
| Over 100, hosted by ClearFlask | Cloud | $29 | ClearFlask |
A project outgrowing the free cap by even one post needs either the self host license on the same server or a move to Cloud, and both cost the same whether a project holds 101 posts or 10,000.
Is there a free plan or a trial?
The open source plan has no time limit: it is free forever on your own server, bounded at 100 posts and community support rather than by a clock. Cloud lists a 14 day trial. The self host license is described only as "automatic renewal," with no trial mentioned for it. The pricing page lists no refund terms.
How has ClearFlask's price changed?

| 29 September 2023 to 29 February 2024 | Self host $0; Standard $8 for 1 teammate plus $4 per teammate; a one time Lifetime license, $250 in September and December 2023, $150 by February 2024 but adding $75 per teammate |
| 16 April 2024 to 11 November 2025 | Self hosted and Cloud tabs: Starter $6 for 1 teammate and 100 posts, Growth $29 for 3 teammates plus $12 per teammate, Pro $41 or $490 a year with unlimited teammates included free; by October 2025 Pro's slot became a custom priced Enterprise tier, and a "ClearFlask AI" feature appeared as a limited preview |
| 4 October 2026 | Open source $0 capped at 100 posts, Self host license $9, Cloud $29, all three with unlimited teammates and no per teammate add on |
ClearFlask has changed its pricing model at least five times in five years: by monthly active user, by tracked user, by flat seat tiers, by a one time lifetime license, by a Self hosted and Cloud tab split with per teammate add ons, and now by three flat tiers with no metered dimension left except the post cap on the free plan. Its open source license also moved from AGPLv3 to Apache 2.0 somewhere between the 2021 and 2023 copies.
The Internet Archive's copies from 29 March and 23 July 2025 and 20 February 2026 loaded only the page shell; the plan prices come from a live call to ClearFlask's own servers, and that call returns an error in the archive's replay, so those three dates could not be read.
Does ClearFlask run a feature voting board?
It does, on itself. Its own feedback page at clearflask.com/feedback is "Powered by ClearFlask," and the site's resources menu separately links a public roadmap page.
What this costs
Lite
$9 /mo
Pro
$39 /mo
Lifetime
$999 once
Fourteen day trial of Pro, card asked for at signup. Nothing here counts the people who vote, so the bill does not move when the board starts working. The long version, with what happens if you stop paying.
VoteFirst is a feature request board: customers post requests, vote and follow a public roadmap, at $9 a month for one project or $39 for unlimited projects and colleagues. ClearFlask gives away its entire source code and lets anyone run it on their own server for free; VoteFirst publishes no source code and has no self hosted option at any price. Fider is the other open source board priced on this site, UserVoice is one of the boards ClearFlask writes alternative pages against, and the pricing hub groups every vendor by what it meters.
How were these prices read?
The current plans come from clearflask.com/pricing, read on 4 October 2026 as the page loads in a browser, with the feedback board confirmed on clearflask.com/feedback and the open source license on clearflask.com/open-source the same day. The history comes from the Internet Archive's copies of clearflask.com/pricing taken on 5 March, 29 July, 22 September and 27 November 2021, 20 May, 11 June, 27 September and 1 December 2022, 4 February and 30 March 2023, 2 June, 29 September and 9 December 2023, 29 February, 16 April and 22 May 2024, and 7 October and 11 November 2025; the three copies from 29 March and 23 July 2025 and 20 February 2026 could not be read, since their plan prices load from a live call to ClearFlask's servers that the archive cannot replay. Prices are in US dollars.
What does ClearFlask cost at 100, 1,000 and 10,000 voters?
ClearFlask bills per plan, with unlimited teammates, so voters do not move the bill. VoteFirst is $9 a month at 100 voters, $9 at 1,000 voters and $9 at 10,000 voters.
Where ClearFlask still wins
ClearFlask has a free forever self host licence, so the software costs nothing if you run it yourself.
What VoteFirst does not do
- No SAML or OIDC. Single sign on is a signed JWT handoff only, on PRO.
- No Slack, Zapier or outgoing webhooks.
- No AI clustering, summarization or automated conversation analysis.
- No Android or Kotlin SDK.
- No private boards on any plan. A board is public to everyone or to nobody.
- Custom domain serves three paths only, the public roadmap, the public voting board and one named board, not the changelog or the most wanted list.
- No free plan. A 14 day trial, card required at signup.
Run your own public Canny or Featurebase board through the board audit to see its votes, its voters and what it costs at that size.
14 days, a card at signup, then $9 or $39 a month.
