Canny meters the customers who vote, Nolt meters the boards

Canny and Nolt both show a monthly figure and the two figures grow along different axes. One climbs with how many customers take part, the other climbs with how many products you run.

What does each one charge?

Seventy nine dollars a month, twenty nine, and nine, and only the first of the three grows with how many people use the board.

Nolt has no proof image in our archive, so there is none on this page. The number above is the one recorded in our notes rather than a screenshot.

Canny's own definition of a tracked user is anybody with a post, a vote or a comment attributed to them, including your own admins if they post, vote or comment. Nolt's unit is the board itself, and Nolt's own headline is that every plan carries unlimited users, unlimited content and unlimited admins.

This site sells a third thing, which is a plan, and it belongs here rather than at the end, because the comparison is the point of the page and hiding one unit would make the table worth less.

How much does Canny cost compared to Nolt?

It depends on two different things entirely, your voter count for Canny and your product count for Nolt.

Canny does not publish the rate above 100 tracked users. Their page states the Pro plan starts at 79 dollars a month billed yearly for 100 tracked users and scales with usage, with no printed figure for the steps in between.

Nolt does not print a rate between one board and five either. Essential is 29 dollars for one board and Pro is 69 for five. There is no plan for two, three or four boards, so a second product costs the same as a fifth.

Which one should you choose?

They solve different problems and the honest answer names both.

Nolt is genuinely better for a team with colleagues. Unlimited admins on every plan, including the cheapest one, is a real decision that most of this category does not make. Canny includes single sign on in its base features but still counts every admin who posts, votes or comments toward the tracked user total.

Canny is the better answer for one busy product with a small team. A single board with a lot of engaged customers and few staff plays to Canny's meter rather than against it, at least until the tracked user count crosses whatever unpublished line moves you up.

One project is nine dollars a month. Unlimited projects is thirty nine.

Why choose Canny over Nolt, or Nolt over Canny?

Because one bills for the people who vote and the other bills for the products you run.

Choose Canny when your team is small and stays that way, because colleagues are free there and Canny's spend limit at least caps the bill, even if it does so by turning off new feedback capture.

Choose Nolt when you run, or expect to run, more than one product with its own board, because the second one only costs forty dollars more a month once you are on Pro, and the third, fourth and fifth after it cost nothing further.

The price follows from your own shape rather than from either product's feature list.

Is there a cheaper alternative to both?

Several, and which one is cheaper depends on whether you are counting boards or voters.

Against Nolt's per board rate, a flat priced tool is cheaper the moment you have only one product to run. Against Canny's tracked user meter, a flat priced tool is cheaper the moment the board starts working, and the calculator runs both comparisons on a size you choose.

What does each do with a vote from a big customer?

Canny sorts by the revenue a feature affects, our notes on Nolt's own pages found nothing about vote weight, and ours multiplies the vote itself.

Read on each vendor's own pages on the date in the row above. Not published means nobody could read it on the pages opened that day, never that the feature is absent.

Canny counts a company's revenue once per post, however many people from that company vote on it, which stops a large team looking like a large amount of money.

Nolt's pricing pages, as recorded on 9 September 2026, said nothing about revenue, MRR or customer tier, which is an absence on their marketing pages rather than proof the feature does not exist.

Can I move from one to the other?

Both export in some form, and what an export loses is the part nobody writes down.

Who cast each vote rather than the total, the threading on comments, the original timestamps and every board URL anybody has shared, none of that reliably survives a move between any two tools in this category.

What a Canny export actually contains is written up separately, and the same caution applies to anything moving out of Nolt.

Where we fit, and where we do not

We do not have a private board at any price, and Nolt includes one on Essential, its cheapest plan, at 29 dollars a month.

Password protection and restricting a board by email domain arrive on Nolt's Pro plan, and we have no equivalent to either. A board of ours is published to everybody or to nobody.

We are also not a product with five modules or an AI capture layer. There is no forms product, no knowledge base and nothing reading your support inbox.

What this product does is put a multiplier on a tier, write that weight onto the vote when it is cast, and show the plain count beside the weighted total on the same card.

Eight of the thirty two tools we checked ship a form of revenue weighting, so it is a difference between us and this pair rather than something only we have.

The price does not move with how many customers vote and it does not step up because you launched a second product either. One project is nine dollars whether the board is quiet or busy.

What is Canny, and what is Nolt?

Canny is a feedback board with a roadmap and a changelog, billed by the customers who take part. Nolt is a public feedback board with a roadmap view, billed by the board, so the price depends on how many products you run rather than on how many people use them.

Does either one have a free plan?

Neither does. Canny's pricing page read on 15 September 2026 caps its free tier at twenty five tracked users, so it stops being free rather than never existing.

Nolt, per our notes from 14 September 2026, gives every new board a ten day trial of its Pro plan that asks for no card, and there is nothing free after it.

The honest summary

Two different meters, two different fits. Canny for a small team with one busy board, until the unpublished rate above a hundred tracked users catches up with you.

Nolt for a team with colleagues to add for free or more than one product to run, until a second board doubles most of the bill. Ours if you want the vote itself to carry what the voter pays, at nine dollars flat, with no private board at any price.
