Featurebase charges for the people on your side of the board. Canny charges for the people who show up to vote on it. Everything below was read on each vendor's own pricing page on 15 September 2026.
What does each one charge?
Twenty nine dollars a seat, seventy nine dollars a month, and nine, and only Canny's figure moves with how many customers turn up.
| Vendor | From | Billed per | Free plan | Trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VoteFirst | $7.50/mo | plan | – | 14 days, card |
| Featurebase | $29/seat/mo | seat | 1 seat | – |
| Canny | $79/mo | tracked user | 25 users | – |
Read on each vendor's own pricing page on 2026-09-15.
Featurebase's own pricing card also carries a switch, defaulted to billed yearly, that changes twenty nine dollars a seat into thirty seven if you switch it off.
Canny's meter is a tracked user, their own definition of anybody with a post, a vote or a comment attributed to them, including your own admins if they take part.
Featurebase's meter runs on your colleagues. Canny's runs on the crowd. That is the whole difference this page exists to price.
How much does Featurebase cost compared to Canny?
It depends on whether your company has more colleagues or more voters, and here is the arithmetic at three sizes.
| Your situation | Featurebase | Canny |
|---|---|---|
| 2 people on the team, 20 customers vote | $58/mo, two seats on Growth billed yearly | Free, under the 25 tracked user line |
| 5 people on the team, 400 customers vote | $145/mo, five seats on Growth billed yearly | Above $79 and below $529, Canny does not publish a rate at 400 tracked users |
| 20 people on the team, 1,000 customers vote | $580/mo, twenty seats on Growth billed yearly | $529/mo billed yearly, Canny's own page prices 1,000 tracked users exactly |
A small team with a busy board pays Canny more. A large team with a quiet board pays Featurebase more, and by a lot once you pass ten seats.
Canny does not print a rate between 100 and 1,000 tracked users. Their page states $79 a month at 100 and $529 a month at 1,000, with no figure for the numbers in between. That gap is the single most important thing on this page.
If you would rather look at a board than read about billing, the demo is open without an account.
Which one should you choose?
They are built for different weak points and the honest answer names both.
Featurebase's free plan is genuinely generous. One seat, one board, one roadmap, a public portal, and end users that are uncapped even on that free tier, forever, at no cost. We do not have a free plan at any price.
Canny weights a vote by revenue better than the entry price suggests, and it syncs a CRM to do it. Their own page counts a company's revenue once per post no matter how many people from that company vote, which is a genuinely clever detail worth borrowing rather than dismissing.
Choose Featurebase if your team is small and your board is quiet. Choose Canny if the board itself is the product and you can afford the meter once it gets busy.
Why choose Featurebase over Canny, or Canny over Featurebase?
Because one of them bills for your headcount and the other bills for your popularity.
Choose Featurebase when you expect to add colleagues faster than you add voters, because a seat price is one you can predict from your own hiring plan rather than from how well the board performs.
Choose Canny when your team will stay small and your voters are the part that might grow, because Canny's colleagues are free and its price only moves when the thing you built starts working.
The price follows from that shape and should not lead it. Buying the wrong one of these for your situation is expensive at any headline number.
Nothing here counts the people who vote, so a busy board costs the same.
Is there a cheaper alternative to both?
Several, and which one is cheaper depends on whether you are counting seats or voters.
Against Featurebase's per seat rate, a flat price is cheaper the moment a fourth colleague joins. Against Canny's tracked user meter, a flat price is cheaper the moment the board is busy, and the calculator runs both comparisons on a size you choose.
The whole field with the unit each vendor bills on is one page. Ours is nine dollars flat regardless of team size or voter count.
What does each do with a vote from a big customer?
Read on each vendor's own pricing page on 2026-09-15. A dash means nobody could read it on the pages opened that day, never that the capability is absent.
| Vendor | Weighting by revenue | API | Export | Custom domain |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Featurebase | Growth, prioritize by revenue | Growth | – | – |
| Canny | Orders by revenue, CRM sync | – | Yes, documented | – |
| VoteFirst | All plans | Pro | CSV | Pro |
Featurebase's own words are to prioritize by revenue, syncing a user's monthly spend and company name in from elsewhere. Canny's own words are to sort by revenue impact, and it counts a company once per post rather than once per voter. Both order a list. Neither multiplies the vote itself the way this product does.
Can I move from one to the other?
Canny's export is real and documented rather than a support ticket, and what the file actually contains is written up separately, from the file rather than from Canny's own documentation.
We did not read Featurebase's export documentation for this page, so we are not going to claim what it does or does not carry. What we can say is that moving between a seat billed tool and a tracked user billed tool changes what you are charged for, not only what data survives the move.
Where we fit, and where we do not
We are one module, a feedback board with a roadmap. There is no helpdesk, no ticketing and no support inbox, which is the whole of what Featurebase sells on top of its board.
Both of the products above have something we do not. Both have a working free plan, Featurebase's at one seat and Canny's at 25 tracked users, and we have none at any price.
Both also ship an AI feature we do not, Featurebase's paid AI resolutions and copilot, Canny's automated conversation analysis that reads feedback for you. We build neither kind and none is planned.
What this product does instead is put a whole number multiplier on a tier, write that weight onto the vote when it is cast, and show the plain count beside the weighted total on the same card, on every plan including the nine dollar one.
What is Featurebase, and what is Canny?
Featurebase is a feedback board sold together with a helpdesk, a changelog and a survey module under one login, billed by the seats on your own team.
Canny is a feedback board with a roadmap and a changelog, billed by the tracked users associated with the feedback on it, your customers and your own admins alike.
Does either one have a free plan?
Both do, and they cap different things. Featurebase's pricing page read on 15 September 2026 gives one seat with unlimited end users and unlimited feedback. Canny's, read the same day, gives twenty five tracked users, so the ceiling there is how many people took part rather than how many colleagues you have.
What this costs
Lite
$9 /mo
Pro
$39 /mo
Lifetime
$999 once
Fourteen day trial of Pro, card asked for at signup. Nothing here counts the people who vote, so the bill does not move when the board starts working. The long version, with what happens if you stop paying.
The honest summary
Two meters, aimed at two different weak points. Featurebase for a small team that wants a helpdesk bundled in and does not expect a huge crowd of voters.
Canny for a public board that will stay under a hundred tracked users, or that can afford what comes after. Ours if you want the vote itself to carry what the voter pays, at nine dollars flat, with no seat count and no tracked user meter either way.
The Featurebase alternative page and the Canny one carry each side on its own.
14 days, a card at signup, then $9 or $39 a month.
