Headway starts at $29 a month for Pro, read on its own pricing page on 21 October 2026. VoteFirst, whose maker wrote this page, starts at $9 a month for one project, so weigh what follows with that in mind.
Headway has two plans. Free carries unlimited changelogs, and Pro is $29 a month and adds your own domain, removal of the Headway branding, team management and a private changelog. The page prints no yearly price and no meter: nothing on it counts readers, posts or monthly active users.
Every current price here was read on headwayapp.co on 4 October 2026. The plans sit at the foot of the home page, and headwayapp.co/pricing returns a 404.

How has Headway's price changed?
Twice, both within a year of launch, and not since. The Internet Archive holds copies of the home page, where the plans have always been printed, from 2017.
| Archive copy | Pro | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| July 2017 | $0 while in beta | The free plan listed an API and a Twitter integration |
| November 2017 | $9 a month | The beta ended; team management joined Pro and the API line left the free plan |
| June 2018 | $29 a month | The price rose and has not moved since |
| June 2023 | $29 a month | The Twitter integration left the free plan, and custom categories moved from Pro to Free |
| October 2026 | $29 a month | Unchanged |
The step from $9 to $29 happened between the copies of 20 December 2017 and 25 June 2018, and the archive holds none in between. The Twitter line was on the copy of 5 May 2023 and gone from the copy of 9 June 2023.
How does $29 compare with other changelog tools?
Each vendor's cheapest paid plan, from the pricing pages linked below.
| Tool | Cheapest paid plan |
|---|---|
| Headway | Pro, $29 a month, with no yearly price |
| LoopedIn | $15 a month, or $12 billed yearly |
| Sleekplan | Starter, $13 a month billed yearly |
| Noticeable | Starter, $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly |
| Beamer | Starter, $59 a month, or $49 billed yearly, for 5,000 monthly active users |
| AnnounceKit | Changelog, $59 a month, or $49 billed yearly |
| LaunchNotes | Growth, $249 a month billed yearly |
The cheapest paid plan is not always the one with a custom domain or without the vendor's branding, and Headway's Pro carries both. Beamer counts monthly active users. Headway's page counts nothing.
Does Headway collect feature requests?
Not on its own site. Every feature Headway lists is about publishing updates: the changelog page, the widget, categories, scheduling and the eyecatcher. None of them is a board where users post requests, vote or follow a roadmap.
What this costs
Lite
$9 /mo
Pro
$39 /mo
Lifetime
$999 once
Fourteen day trial of Pro, card asked for at signup. Nothing here counts the people who vote, so the bill does not move when the board starts working. The long version, with what happens if you stop paying.
VoteFirst starts from the other end: a public board where users post requests, vote and see what was decided, with a changelog of shipped requests that emails the people who voted for each one and anyone who subscribed. It is $9 a month for one project or $39 for unlimited projects and colleagues. The changelog tools are compared on one page, and Headway's alternatives are priced here.
How were these prices read?
The current plans come from the pricing section of headwayapp.co, read on 4 October 2026. The history comes from the Internet Archive's copies of the same page taken on 3 July 2017, 2 November 2017, 20 December 2017, 25 June 2018, 18 January 2021, 14 January 2022, 1 January 2023, 5 May 2023, 9 June 2023, 3 November 2023 and 11 December 2023. Prices are in US dollars before tax.
What does Headway cost at 100, 1,000 and 10,000 voters?
Headway bills a flat plan price, and it is a changelog with no feedback board. VoteFirst is $9 a month at 100 voters, $9 at 1,000 voters and $9 at 10,000 voters.
Where Headway still wins
Headway is a changelog tool, so when announcing releases is the whole job it is the simpler purchase.
What VoteFirst does not do
- No SAML or OIDC. Single sign on is a signed JWT handoff only, on PRO.
- No Slack, Zapier or outgoing webhooks.
- No AI clustering, summarization or automated conversation analysis.
- No Android or Kotlin SDK.
- No private boards on any plan. A board is public to everyone or to nobody.
- Custom domain serves three paths only, the public roadmap, the public voting board and one named board, not the changelog or the most wanted list.
- No free plan. A 14 day trial, card required at signup.
Run your own public Canny or Featurebase board through the board audit to see its votes, its voters and what it costs at that size.
14 days, a card at signup, then $9 or $39 a month.
