PostHog pricing, by the event

PostHog sells product analytics, session replay, feature flags, surveys and a dozen other tools under one account, and prices each by its own unit, with no plan fee and no seat count. Every product has a free allowance that resets each month: 1 million analytics events, 5,000 web recordings, 1 million feature flag requests and 1,500 survey responses among them. Past each allowance the rate falls in bands as volume grows, from $0.00005 an event down to $0.000009. An event tied to a known person costs more, because it also carries a person profile charge, which puts the first paid identified event at $0.000248.

Every current figure here was read on posthog.com/pricing and posthog.com/platform-packages on 5 October 2026, and every older one on the Internet Archive's copies of the pricing page.

What does each PostHog product cost?

Product Free each month First paid rate Lowest rate
Analytics events 1 million $0.00005 an event $0.000009, past 250 million
Person profiles, on identified events 1 million $0.000198 an event $0.000001, past 250 million
Session replay, web 5,000 recordings $0.005 a recording $0.0015, past 500,000
Session replay, mobile 2,500 recordings $0.01 a recording $0.003, past 500,000
Feature flags 1 million requests $0.0001 a request $0.00001, past 50 million
Surveys 1,500 responses $0.10 a response $0.01, past 20,000

Each rate covers a band, and only the units inside that band pay it, so a month's bill climbs more slowly than its volume. Analytics events pay $0.00005 from 1 to 2 million, $0.0000343 to 15 million, $0.0000295 to 50 million, $0.0000218 to 100 million and $0.000015 to 250 million. Experiments are billed through feature flag requests rather than on a meter of their own. The group analytics add on charges a further $0.000071 on each identified event.

Which other products are metered?

Product Free each month First paid rate
Error tracking 100,000 exceptions $0.00037 an exception
Data warehouse 1 million rows $0.000015 a row
Logs 10 GB $0.25 a GB
Workflow emails 10,000 $0.003 an email
Data pipeline triggers 10,000 events $0.0005 an event
AI observability 100,000 events $0.00035 an event
PostHog AI 500 credits $0.01 a credit

Logs are kept 14 days by default, with longer retention sold at $0.05 a GB for each month kept. Each of these products has its own allowance and its own billing limit, separate from the analytics bill.

What does a month cost at common volumes?

Monthly volume Anonymous events only Identified events
2 million events $50 $248
5 million events $152.90 $560
10 million events $324.40 $1,080
50 million events $1,528.40 $3,892.50

An identified event, one PostHog ties to a person profile, pays the event rate and the person profile rate together, which is why the second column runs between two and a half and five times the first at the same volume. A product with 2 million identified events, 10,000 web recordings, 1 million flag requests and 2,000 survey responses in a month pays $323: $248 for events, $25 for replay, nothing for flags inside the free million and $50 for surveys. At the same band rates, 25,000 recordings cost $85 a month, 50,000 cost $172.50 and 100,000 cost $272.50, while 10 million flag requests cost $460 and 10,000 survey responses $330.

What happens past the free allowance?

On the free plan, events past an allowance are permanently dropped and feature flags return a default response until the month resets, so the account is never charged. On pay as you go, everything above the allowance is billed at the rates above. Each product can carry its own billing limit, and once usage reaches it PostHog drops further events the same way the free plan does rather than charging past the limit. The pricing page suggests setting the limit to $0 for the first few days to see a projected bill before paying anything.

Is there a free plan or a trial?

The free plan has no end date and needs no card. It allows unlimited team members, one project, one year of data retention and community support, with session recordings kept one month. Pay as you go, unlocked by adding a card, keeps the same free allowance, raises the limits to six projects and seven years of retention, keeps recordings 90 days and adds email support, or Slack support above $2,000 a month. Billing is monthly through Stripe, starting a month after signup, in US dollars excluding taxes. The page lists discounts for startups and non-profits, annual commitments by agreement, and no minimum spend.

What do the platform packages add?

Package A month What it adds
Boost $250 Unlimited projects, white labeling, a HIPAA business associate agreement, SSO enforcement and team collaboration features
Scale $750 Everything in Boost, plus priority support and SAML
Enterprise Quoted By agreement with sales

The packages sit on top of usage, so a team on Scale pays $750 a month before its first billed event. Boost and Scale can stretch recording retention to a year, and Enterprise to five years.

PostHog moved from flat plans to usage between January 2021 and June 2022, and its products have been billed by the unit ever since, with add ons such as Teams in 2024 and today's platform packages sold on top. The first paid cloud event cost $0.000225 in 2022, $0.00031 in 2023 and $0.000248 from April 2024; since July 2024 anonymous events have paid $0.00005, and identified ones have held at $0.000248. Session replay moved the most: the free allowance fell from 15,000 recordings in 2023 to 5,000 in 2024, the first paid rate rose from $0.005 to $0.04, and by June 2025 it was back to $0.005. The survey allowance grew from 250 responses to 1,500, and the first paid response fell from $0.20 to $0.10.

Does PostHog run a feature voting board?

PostHog's roadmap page lists 26 features by stage, from concept and alpha to beta and general availability, each with an email waitlist, and includes a box asking what it should build. It shows no vote counts and no list of requests from other customers, so a visitor can suggest an idea but cannot see or back anyone else's. PostHog's Surveys product can ask users a question inside an app, which is a different job from a shared board.

VoteFirst is a feature request board: customers post requests, vote on each other's and follow a public roadmap, at $9 a month for one project or $39 for unlimited projects and colleagues, with no count of voters or events. PostHog's free allowance means many small products pay it nothing at all, and VoteFirst has no free plan. Hotjar now sells its recordings and heatmaps as Contentsquare's Experience Analytics, LogRocket by the monthly session, the session replay shortlist compares seven replay and heatmap tools by what 1,000 sessions cost, and the pricing hub groups every vendor by what it meters.
