Userback alternatives, for the widget and for the portal

Userback does two jobs. Its widget captures annotated screenshots, screen recordings and bug reports from inside a website or app, from $29 a month billed annually for five seats. Its Feature Portal, where customers vote on requests and follow a roadmap, is an add-on at $31 a month on top of a paid plan. The cheapest Userback account with both is $60 a month billed annually.

So the right alternative depends on which job you are replacing. Eight tools below replace the widget, and the boards further down replace the portal. Every price was read on the vendor's own pricing page on 4 October 2026. Userback's own plans, the portal add-on and its price since 2016 are on a separate page.

Which tools replace Userback's widget?

Tool Entry plan Billed yearly Billed monthly What it includes Free plan
Userback Team $29 a month $39 a month 5 seats, 5 projects 2 seats, 2 projects
Usersnap Starter $49 a month $59 a month 2 seats, 2 projects None listed
Marker.io Starter $39 a month $59 a month 3 users, reporters unlimited None listed
BugHerd Standard $42 a month $50 a month 5 members, projects unlimited None listed
Feedbucket Pro $39 a month $49 a month 2 team members, projects unlimited None listed
Gleap Starter $49 a month $59 a month 1 seat, 1 project None listed
Jam Team $14 a creator a month Not printed Up to 50 creators, viewers unlimited 30 Jams a month
Pastel Pro $29 a month $35 a month 2 users, 3 canvases 1 user, 1 canvas
Ruttl Pro $18 a user a month $18 a user a month Up to 50 users 1 project, 5 pages

Most of these charge by the person on your side and let the people sending feedback in for free. Marker.io calls them reporters, Feedbucket and BugHerd call them clients, and Jam calls them viewers. Userback does the same.

Two prices need a note. Jam prints Team only as a yearly price. Ruttl's billing switch shows $18 on both sides, so the page gives no saving for paying yearly.

What does each one capture, and from which plan?

Tool Screenshots with notes Screen recording Session replay Console logs Jira
Userback Listed Listed Business Business Team
Usersnap Starter Starter Not listed Starter Starter
Marker.io Starter Not listed Team Team Team

Feedbucket Pro Pro Not listed Business Pro
Gleap Team Not listed Team Team Starter
Jam Free Free Not listed Free Free
Pastel Not listed Not listed Not listed Not listed Team
Ruttl Not listed Not listed Not listed Not listed Free

Listed means the pricing page names the feature without tying it to a plan; Userback's widget is on every plan, including Free. Not listed means the pricing page read on the day does not name it, not that the tool lacks it.

Pastel and Ruttl work differently from the rest. Instead of a screenshot, the reviewer pins a comment to the live page, which suits a design review more than a bug report from a customer. Jam is built the other way round: a recording of the screen with the console and network logs attached, made for the person filing the bug to send to an engineer.

The plan that matters is often the second one. Session replay and console logs start on Userback's Business plan at $79 a month billed annually, on Marker.io's Team at $149, and on Gleap's Team at $149. Usersnap and Jam list console logs from their entry plans.

Which of them also run a voting board?

Three. Userback sells the Feature Portal as an add-on, $60 a month billed annually with Team underneath it. Gleap's votes and public roadmap start on Team, $149 a month billed annually. Usersnap's voting board starts on Professional, $209 a month billed annually. The pricing pages of Marker.io, BugHerd, Feedbucket, Jam, Pastel and Ruttl list no board where customers vote on requests.

Which boards cost less than Userback's portal?

If the portal is the part of Userback you use, a board on its own costs less than the $60 a month the add-on and Team come to. These are priced on their own pages.

Is there a free Userback alternative?

For the widget, three have a free plan. Jam's gives 30 Jams a month, recordings up to five minutes, console logs and the Jira connection. Pastel's gives one user and one canvas, its word for a site under review. Ruttl's gives one project and five pages; its plan card says up to five users and its comparison table says one user and up to five guests. Userback's own free plan holds two seats and two projects, and keeps feedback for seven days.

For the portal, Userback has no free option, because the Free plan cannot add it. Fider is free up to 250 items, and Sleekplan's free plan holds one admin.

When is Userback the better answer?

When you want both jobs on one bill. Team with the portal is $60 a month billed annually for five seats, five projects, the widget and a voting board with a roadmap, and nothing else on this page does both for that. It also keeps a free plan for two seats, which only Jam, Pastel and Ruttl match among the widgets.

When is VoteFirst the better answer?

When the portal is the job. VoteFirst is a voting board and public roadmap at $9 a month for one project, or $39 for unlimited projects and colleagues, with no seat counter. It captures no screenshots, recordings or console logs, so a team that needs the widget should pick from the first table. A team that only ever used Userback's portal pays the board's price and skips the widget's.

How were these read?

Each price, plan limit and feature placement comes from the vendor's own pricing page, read on 4 October 2026: userback.io/pricing, usersnap.com/pricing, marker.io/pricing, bugherd.com/pricing, feedbucket.app/pricing, gleap.io/pricing, jam.dev/pricing, usepastel.com/plans and ruttl.com/pricing. Pages that draw their prices or plan tables in script were rendered in a browser with each billing period selected in turn. The eight tools are the ones named most often as Userback alternatives on the pages that rank for the question, and Userback's own comparison pages. Prices are in US dollars before tax.
